Facing some serious accusations, the New England Patriots cut ties with veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs early in the offseason.
Diggs was acquitted and should be good to go and healthy to join another team, but with the Patriots adding Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown, they may no longer be interested in him.
There aren't many potential options left, though the Kansas City Chiefs might desperately need another pass catcher after Rashee Rice's latest scandal.
According to Sports Illustrated's Connor Orr, they will likely keep tabs on Diggs, though the Los Angeles Rams could also enter his sweepstakes.
“The 32-year-old veteran, who played 17 games last season, caught more than 85 balls and scored four touchdowns for the Patriots, will be a valuable WR3 option for Sean McVay’s offense or a trusted fill-in for the Chiefs as the team navigates the increasing unreliability of Rashee Rice,” Orr wrote.
The Rams have shown that they're willing to go the extra mile to be the last team standing this season. They traded for Trent McDuffie and Myles Garrett this offseason, so adding Diggs next to Puka Nacua and Davante Adams would certainly be on brand.
That's why the Chiefs must act fast and be aggressive if they truly want to get their hands on the former Buffalo Bills star.
Travis Kelce isn't at the peak of his powers anymore, Xavier Worthy has yet to break out, and Rice has either been hurt, suspended or hasn't played up to the hype since his strong rookie season.
Diggs clearly won't be a long-term solution at this point in his career, but he's still a proficient chain-mover and an upgrade over their current wide receiver corps.
