Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Issues Challenge to Disappointing Receiver

Patrick Mahomes has no shortage of weapons in the Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver room. So many that the team could consider cutting a few of them before the start of the season.

One of the players that could be cut is former second-round pick Skyy Moore, as he has been disappointing in his first three seasons. In a recent press conference, Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes sounded like he issued a challenger to Moore and the rest of the team's receivers.

"His job is to come in here and compete," Mahomes said. "(Brett) Veach has brought in such great competition into that room... you let guys go out there and compete to see who the best five, six, seven, eight, whatever guys that is make the team but also compete in making each other better."

The team has Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and newly-drafted Jalen Royals on the outside, so Moore may be the odd man out.

In his first three seasons in the league, the 24-year-old receiver has totaled just 494 receiving yards and one touchdown. While he did miss some time this past season, those totals are still through 36 career games.

If Moore wants a chance at staying and making an impact on this roster, he is going to have to have a remarkable offseason. But if not, it might be best for him and the team to part ways and both start fresh.
