Travis Kelce got engaged to Taylor Swift not too long ago. The pair is eager to spend the rest of their lives together. Before that, Kelce must take care of his business with the Kansas City Chiefs.
In less than a week, the Chiefs travel to face the Los Angeles Chargers on the opening day of the 2025 NFL season. Kelce and his teammates are prepping their bags for the long travel to Brazil.
It will be the first international trip for some of the guys, especially the rookies. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes stepped in to share his experience of playing in a different country.
Ironically, one of those guys was Travis Kelce. Despite possessing vast experience, the star tight end faced trouble remembering where Brazil was until Mahomes spoon-fed him.
Some guys who did not understand how far the travel was, including Travis [Kelce]. Even though he just went down there last year… Just explaining to him how the globe works.

In 2023, Kelce flew to Argentina to watch his girlfriend perform at the Eras Tour concert. Swift gave a sweet tribute to her beau by morphing the lyrics of her song ‘Karma.’
Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.
Taylor Swift sang
Kelce was over the moon after finding out about Swift’s latest rendition.
I had no clue. Well, I might have had a little bit of a clue, but definitely when I heard it come out of her mouth, it still shocked me.

Fans in Sao Paulo, Brazil, were excited to land their second NFL game in consecutive years. Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles played and defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-29 to start the campaign. According to NBC Sports, nearly 14.2 million people watched the opening day fixture on various platforms.
The NFL decided to send the Chiefs to Brazil, taking into account their massive global following. Kelce, on the other hand, disliked the idea of playing in humid conditions.
There’s just something about getting close to the equator—I don’t want to put on a football uniform. I’ve been in Jacksonville in September. That’s (expletive) miserable… If it’s humid, I am going to be miserable. But I’ll find a way to get a win.
Travis Kelce said in May 2025 on his podcast
Hearing a seasoned athlete complain about the weather in a foreign country angered many fans. Jason Kelce, who co-hosts the podcast with his brother, quickly stepped in to do damage control.
There were a lot of Brazil fans that were under the impression that we don’t like international games… I think I speak for both me and Travis: we both love them.
Jason Kelce said
Travis echoed his brother’s sentiment and offered a sincere apology to the fans.
I apologize if it came off like I’m not excited about this. I’m still excited [for the game]—I’m just going to be doing some wardrobe changes throughout the game.

The Chiefs-Chargers fixture is a staple in the AFC. Over the years, these two teams have played each other 130 times (including in the playoffs). The Chiefs hold the advantage with 71 wins compared to the Chargers’ 58.
Kelce’s Chiefs are currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak against the team from LA. They last met in December 2024. Mahomes threw 210 yards and one touchdown, while Kelce caught five passes for 45 yards as the Chiefs recorded a close 19-17 victory.
