Chiefs Poised To Avenge Super Bowl Loss vs. Eagles
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs' season ended last year with a brutal beatdown at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles, and make no mistake, they haven't forgotten it.

As the grind of training camp sets in, and the days feel like they're getting longer, it's hot and uncomfortable, the locker room doesn't have to look too far for motivation - it's that Super Bowl loss.

And when looking at the schedule, the Chiefs face the Eagles in Week 2 at Arrowhead so they will get their chance to get some sort of revenge on Jalen Hurts and Co.

But for receiver Juju Smith-Schuster, the mental approach after the Super Bowl loss is a tough one, but he's ready to get another crack at the Eagles.

"It's tough when this team has high expectations, going to the AFC championship, going to the Super Bowl and expecting to win," Smith-Schuster said. "When you lose like that, it's not a good feeling. So, you have that motivation of that's what we're chasing, we want to get back there. And for us, playing against that team, they're very great team. So, for us to have another opportunity against them this year would be great."

Many are washing their hands of the Chiefs in the Super Bowl conversation, with question marks over the offensive line and the makeup of the receiver room, some think Kansas City's dominance in the AFC West and the conference will come to an end.

We aren't there yet, given the Chiefs still have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid as a quarterback/head coach duo, plus what we think will again be a top defense under Steve Spagnuolo. We're letting the cake bake.

But there's no denying that the Chiefs aren't short on motivation heading into the 2025 season, and in Week 2, they'll get a chance to get back some of the good will they lost in the Super Bowl last year.
