The Kansas City Chiefs are finally back on track. However, even with Xavier Worthy's return, their offense could do a little better.
The Chiefs have failed to establish the running game, and QB Patrick Mahomes is their leading rusher with 130 yards on 22 carries. As mobile as he is, that's not a good sign. Isiah Pacheco hasn't been the same player since his injury last season, and there's only so much Kareem Hunt can give them at this point.
That's why Kansas City has been tied to multiple trade rumors over the past couple of weeks. While making a move for the New York Jets' Breece Hall seemed like a realistic possibility, that might not be the case anymore.
As reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Jets RB Braelon Allen will likely be out for an extended period with a knee injury. Needless to say, that hurts their chances of parting ways with Hall, who's on the final year of his rookie contract and didn't get an extension.
Hall has been efficient since he entered the NFL, but given that he already suffered a major injury and that Allen was emerging as a potential starter, he was one of the prime trade candidates. The Chiefs could've certainly benefited from his 4.6 yards per carry, and he's also been a factor in the passing game with 13 receptions for 108 yards this season.
Now, with Hall likely staying put, the Chiefs might want to turn to other trade candidates like Alvin Kamara or De'Von Achane. Or they could give rookie seventh-round pick Brashard Smith a longer leash to showcase his skills.
