Jets star players voice frustrations after 0-4 season start

Shortly after the New York Jets locked wide receiver Garrett Wilson and cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner down via lucrative contract extensions during the offseason, they made it known they were looking forward to "playing meaningful football" with the club.

Thus, it's not surprising the young stars sounded frustrated while speaking with reporters after the Jets fell to 0-4 on the season via a 27-21 loss at what was a winless Miami Dolphins side on Monday night.

Garrett Wilson knows what New York Jets must fix amid awful start

"It's obvious, but it still has to be said because we're still not doing it right," Wilson said after the Jets' latest defeat, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. "We're talking about it, we're talking about it and we're talking about it. [Limiting penalties] is the first thing we talk about in the locker room, so let's fix it next week. If we don't fix it next week, it's ridiculous."

The Jets seemed to regress under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, coming off their Week 3 29-27 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that featured Tampa Bay escaping with a win via a walk-off field goal as time expired. As SNY's Connor Hughes noted, Gang Green committed 16 penalties and had 13 fouls accepted for 101 yards versus the Dolphins. The Jets also turned the ball over three times at Hard Rock Stadium. Multiple Jets players told SNY after the loss that the Dolphins "are not better than us" despite the game's final score.

"Teams shoot themselves in the foot," running back Breece Hall said about the Jets. "Then we come back and shoot ourselves in the head."

Meanwhile, Gardner mentioned that the Jets opening the campaign with four straight losses is "extremely shocking." Neither Gardner nor Wilson has been part of a winning season since being drafted by the organization in 2022.

"I want to win," Gardner continued. "Period, point blank. Obviously, when I was younger, coming into the league, I was just like -- me, Garrett, the young people, we have to do our job. Now it's to the point where we're talking Year 4 right now."

Aaron Glenn sends strong message to New York Jets after fourth straight loss

Before Glenn met with media members following Monday's loss, reporters heard him loudly addressing his team's sloppy play against Miami while in the locker room. Glenn then shared his feelings during his postgame news conference.

"Very disappointing, very disappointing," Glenn said about the Jets' performance, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "There is no way you can win any game with 13 penalties and three turnovers. It just can’t happen. What we have to do is go back to work. That’s the only way we can fix it. ...We have to understand before you can win games, you have to learn how not to lose games."

The winless Jets next host the 1-2-1 Dallas Cowboys this coming Sunday. As of Tuesday morning, ESPN BET had the Jets as 2.5-point home underdogs for that contest.

"I want to win because it’s something I want to put on my resume," Gardner added about his future with the Jets. "Nobody wants to just keep losing."
