Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes fined for 'violent gesture' during celebration

The NFL has loosened its rules and regulations as it relates to celebrations, giving players more freedom to celebrate their big plays, even in choreographed dances with their teammates.

There is one thing the league still does not tolerate, and that is any sort of violent gesture.

There are also no exceptions to that for superstar players, as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found out this week.

The NFL fined Mahomes $14,069 for his celebration of a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills.

Anything that mimics a gunshot, knife or even bow and arrow is going to get the attention of the league and result in a fine. Mahomes is one of the most high-profile players in the league and is always going to have a camera on him after touchdowns, and that celebration was never going to go without a fine.

The Bills won the game 30-21 over the Chiefs, giving Kansas City its first loss of the season.
