Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' simple reaction says it all about team's decision to extend RG Trey Smith

But, that one emoji says it all. 

Smith has been crucial in the Chiefs success, making himself indispensable on the offensive line since he was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of the University of Tennessee. Over the past four seasons, Smith has started in 80 combined regular-season and postseason games, having been named a 2024 Pro Bowler, along with making the PFWA's All-Rookie Team. Oh, and those two Super Bowl championships aren't too bad either!

All throughout the spring, Kansas City has made it clear that they want to get a deal done with Smith. But, the right guard was leaving that up to his agents, and was focused on the 2025 season. 

"I'm coming back, that's the best part about it," Smith said on FS1'S "First Things First" at the beginning of April. "Just ready to go back to work and get back on that feeling of trying to get back to that goal, get a Super Bowl. But I just leave everything else for my agents, let them do all that. No delegation of that matter. But I'm just focused on being great, just being one percent better every single day, and be the best player I can every day for this organization."
