Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs continued to struggle in Week 17, falling to 6-10 on the 2025 NFL season after a 20-13 Christmas Day loss to Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos. With Patrick Mahomes sidelined and the playoffs out of reach, Kelce still managed to record five catches for 36 yards with Chris Oladokun under center.

Entering Week 17, Kelce had recorded 1,072 receptions over his 13-year career, ranking 10th on the NFL’s all-time list. With 1:03 remaining in the fourth quarter, Kelce hauled in a 14-yard pass from Oladokun to pick up a first down. The reception marked the tight end's fifth of the day and the 1,077th of his career.

In doing so, Kelce was able to pass former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin (1,076) for the ninth-most receptions in NFL history. Kelce is now also just one catch shy of San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys legend Terrell Owens, who recorded 1,078 receptions from 1996 to 2010.

"Kelce caught five passes for 36 yards on Thursday, moving him past Anquan Boldin for the ninth-most receptions (1,077) of any player in NFL history," the Chiefs wrote. "Kelce needs just two catches on Sunday to pass Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Owens (1,078) for sole possession of eighth place on the list."

While Kelce has proven to be one of the best pass catchers in league history, there are still numerous legends in front of him on the all-time list, including:

  1. Jerry Rice - 1,549
  2. Larry Fitzgerald - 1,432
  3. Tony Gonzalez - 1,325
  4. Jason Witten - 1,228
  5. Marvin Harrison - 1,102
  6. Cris Carter - 1,101
  7. Tim Brown - 1,094
  8. Terrell Owens - 1,078
  9. Travis Kelce - 1,077

"Travis Kelce now has the ninth-most receptions (1,077) of any player in NFL history," the Chiefs posted on X.

Up next for Kelce and the Chiefs, the Week 18 season finale against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
