The Kansas City Chiefs' offense at training camp is going to be an interesting watch, with Patrick Mahomes' weapons all appearing to be healthy or close enough to be considered so.
Why is that interesting? Because Mahomes' expected top weapons from last year didn't play together, with Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown being bitten by the injury bug.
However, now, the pair appears to be heading into training camp ready to roll, something that will please head coach Andy Reid.
But NFL.com's Christian Gonzales, it is the makeup of the depth chart behind the "big dogs" that will be interesting to see develop.
"With the Chiefs selecting Jalen Royals in April's draft, Kansas City is looking for pass catchers who can contribute in any capacity," Gonzales wrote. "Kansas City's leading wide receiver in yards in 2024 was rookie Xavier Worthy, as Marquise Brown missed most of the regular season due to a shoulder injury suffered in the preseason and Rashee Rice, Mahomes' top target, suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4.
"It led to the Chiefs having a less potent offense for a majority of the season and into the playoffs. \With Kansas City seeing DeAndre Hopkins and Mecole Hardman sign with new teams this offseason, training camp will provide a sneak peak at the WR depth chart before Week 1."
After the "starters," the Chiefs' depth chart looks a little shaky. Juju Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore, and Jalen Royals are next up, so there does seem to be quite the drop-off.
But that is what training camp is for: for those younger players or veterans to make a name for themselves, surprise the coaching staff, and earn snaps when the regular season begins.
There's no denying injuries hampered the Chiefs' offense last season, and yes, they went 15-2 and made the Super Bowl, but it wasn't exactly pretty viewing.
Now, with a full arsenal of weapons, the depth chart looms as a must-watch as Kansas City looks to give all those doubters a big slice of humble pie in 2025.
