Reid said that Watkins and Gay will be listed as out for Sunday. Edwards-Helaire is making progress and will be listed as questionable.
Watkins played just 10 games during the regular season, reeling in 37 receptions for 421 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Edwards-Helaire appeared in 13 games, carrying the ball for 803 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 36 receptions for 297 yards and a score.
The Chiefs earned a first-round bye after owning an NFL-best 14-1 record during the regular season. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was able to rest during the final week of the season, and Kansas City still won without him.
The Browns, meanwhile, defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild-card round to move on. It was their first playoff win since 1995.
