Justin Reid won't play for the Kansas City Chiefs next season.

The safety started all but two games and appeared in three Super Bowls during three seasons with the Chiefs. Reid will now join his hometown team for 2025.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Reid signed a three-year, $31.5 million deal with the New Orleans Saints. The Louisiana native will make $22.25 million in fully guaranteed money.

Reid spent the first four seasons of his career with the Houston Texans. The former third-round pick also signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract to join Kansas City in 2022.

Over three seasons, Reid tallied 265 tackles, 23 pass breakups, four sacks, and three interceptions. He notched 27 tackles, three quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks during their 2023 championship run after collecting a career-high 95 tackles during the regular season.

Reid garnered 87 tackles in 2024 and returned nine kickoffs for 556 yards. Pro Football Focus graded him 12th among 170 safeties in coverage, crediting him with allowing 44 receptions for 520 yards during the regular season.

Reid joins a Saints secondary alongside Tyrann Mathieu, another Louisiana native who previously played for the Texans and Chiefs. They teamed up in Houston in 2018.

New Orleans allowed the third-most total yards during a 5-12 season, but only four teams permitted a lower opposing quarterback rating. The Saints also fortified first-year head coach Kellen Moore's defense by re-signing Chase Young to a three-year deal.

Meanwhile, Reid isn't Kansas City's first significant offseason loss. The AFC champions traded All-Pro guard Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears before signing left tackle Jaylon Moore.

Kansas City also added cornerback Kristian Fulton from the Los Angeles Chargers to help a defense that allowed 19.2 points per game in 2024.
