Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t get back on track in Week 8, dropping a second-straight game after a 28-24 loss to Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos. Now, the Chiefs will head into Week 9 with a 5-2 record, hoping to reclaim the AFC West standings with a matchup against the New York Jets.
Despite the recent losing streak, Kansas City has fielded one of the top defenses in the league, allowing just 18.7 points per game, the fifth-fewest in the NFL. But without Mansoor Delane because of a shoulder injury, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix led Denver to a victory while scoring the second-most points any team has put up against the Chiefs this season.
But while the Chiefs look to get healthy on defense, they have parted ways with another cornerback as well.
Kader Kohou, after a college career with Texas A&M-Commerce, went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft before he was picked up by the Miami Dolphins. The cornerback earned a spot on the roster during his rookie season, spending the previous four seasons in Miami. And in 47 games played, Kohou tallied 180 total tackles, two forced fumbles and three interceptions.
The Chiefs signed him over the offseason to a one-year, $1.81 million deal, but Kohou was cut before the season began, making his way back onto the practice squad. And despite some injuries to the secondary, Kohou hadn’t been called up for any of the Chiefs’ eight games this season.
But on Monday, one day after their loss to the Broncos, the Chiefs elected to terminate Kohou’s practice squad contract, ending his time in Kansas City.
“The Chiefs terminated the practice squad contract of CB Kader Kohou,” A to Z Sports’ Charles Goldman wrote on X.

The Chiefs will return to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Jets on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
