2025 Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp rolled on to Day 6 of practice on Monday.

It marked their second consecutive session in pads. The players are now in the grind of camp and will only have a few days off between now and their first preseason game on August 9.

Cornerbacks Kristian Fulton and Darius Rush, along with tight end Jake Briningstool, did not practice on Monday. Fulton remains on the PUP list as he recovers from offseason knee surgery. Rush and Briningstool are day-to-day with hamstring injuries.

LT Josh Simmons continues to be the center of attention during Chiefs camp

The Simmons hype train isn't slowing down anytime soon. In fact, it's probably speeding up. Simmons impressed with a 1-on-1 matchup against rookie defensive end Ashton Gillotte during OL vs. DL drills, as  Simmons stonewalled Gillotte and then threw him to the ground (H/T Lyle Graversen).

Simmons also had an excellent rep against veteran pass rusher Mike Danna during a rushing drill by the Chiefs' offense.

Barring a major and seemingly unlikely step backwards, Simmons has the starting LT job locked down. Any previous injury concerns are off the table, as Simmons looks to keep improving during each practice.

Chiefs LB Leo Chenal makes the play of the day with leaping interception

One of the more underrated starters on K.C.'s defense is fourth-year LB Leo Chenal. He had the highlight of practice on Monday as he went up high to pick off quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Chenal is an athletic, versatile chess piece for the Chiefs. He's not only a solid LB, but a core piece of the special teams unit. Chenal is entering a contract year in 2025 and will look to put together the best season of his young career.

Veteran TE Robert Tonyan making a case for the 53-man roster

We know Travis Kelce and Noah Gray are locked in as the top two TEs on the team, but there's a battle for the third spot. Young guys such as Briningstool and Jared Wiley have gotten a lot of hype, but Tonyan has quietly been the most consistent.

Tonyan has hauled in several receptions since padded practices have begun. His experience in the league could be paying dividends. Back In 2020 Tonyan tied with Kelce for the most receiving touchdowns among all TEs with 11. Injuries have limited him since, but now that he's healthy perhaps he is rounding back into form.

Punter battle is still alive

Punters don't get a lot of love, so the battle between Matt Araiza and Eddie Czaplicki isn't getting a light of spotlight. However, practice special teams coordinator Dave Toub said that the competition will carry into the preseason so long as the team stays relatively healthy and doesn't have to use roster spots on other positions. Both Araiza and Czaplicki participated in punt drills on Monday.
