Chiefs' Travis Kelce vows to play 'until the wheels fall off'

Travis Kelce is arguably the best tight end in NFL history, and he doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Kelce, 33, is coming off a 2022 season where he had career-highs in receptions (110), receiving yards (1,338) and receiving touchdowns (12).

The All-Pro TE was asked how long he'll keep playing for, and the answer was classic Kelce.

“Until the wheels fall off, baby,” Kelce proclaimed.

Kelce realizes the NFL isn't forever, but he's still at the top of his craft and seems to be savoring each and every moment.

"I love this game and I know I’m going to miss it when I’m done playing," Kelce said. "That’s a business decision I’m sure I’ll have to make at some point in my life."

As the elder statesman in the TE room, Kelce is showing selflessness and sharing what's made him one of the greats instead of having a big ego and worrying about a young buck eventually taking his job away.

Kelce says he tries to give young tight ends on the Chiefs and across the league "nuggets of gold."

"I'm here to try and get everybody at their best," Kelce explained. "Still got that confidence that what we do over here is always gonna be No. 1."

The longer Kelce plays, the higher he moves up the all-time TE leaderboard. Kelce currently ranks fourth all-time with 814 receptions and fourth all-time with 10,344 yards.

How Kelce is able to get open often defies logic, and his athleticism in the open field is eye-popping. He's pretty good at catching the ball, too. Kelce is the ultimate competitor and his rapport with Patrick Mahomes is nearly unmatched in the NFL. Whether one is a Chiefs fan or not, appreciating what Kelce's able to do on the gridiron is easy.
