Patrick Mahomes has had an unbelievable career with the Kansas City Chiefs. In nine years in the NFL, Mahomes has won three Super Bowls, played in six Pro Bowls, is a two-time First Team All-Pro selection and has won two AP MVP awards. He is also the all-time NFL record holder for passing yards per game with 287.3, to go along with 33,609 career yards and 253 touchdowns through the air.
So far this season, he and the Chiefs have not seen the same success as in recent years. Kansas City is 2-3 through their first five games, including an overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on "Monday Night Football."
The Chiefs will take on the Detroit Lions this Sunday, and Mahomes will match up with Jared Goff.
Goff and the Lions have been fantastic to start the 2025 season. They come into Sunday's battle with a 4-1 record. In these five games, Goff has completed 75.2% of his passes for 1,187 yards and 12 touchdowns with just two interceptions.
Since Goff was traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Lions in 2021, the Chiefs and Lions have met just once. In 2023, Goff and the Lions beat Mahomes and the Chiefs 21-20.
On Thursday, the Chiefs posted a picture of Goff and Mahomes shaking hands after that game.
"These two under the lights," the Chiefs captioned the post on their X account.

Sunday's game will mark the second straight week the Chiefs have played in primetime. Mahomes made a crucial error on Monday against the Jaguars, as he threw a 99-yard pick-six that helped lead to a Jacksonville victory.
Mahomes will have to put that behind him, as he looks to jumpstart a season turnaround for the Chiefs against Goff and the Lions on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET at Arrowhead Stadium. The game can be seen on NBC.
