Chris Jones’ $1.25 million sack sparks wild reactions from Chiefs teammates
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Season-enders are usually for three things: punching playoff tickets, breaking single-season records, and meeting requirements for bonuses. A lot of this will be happening this week which will keep fans sitting at the edge of their seats. Players, on the other hand, will be locked in like never before seen this season. Like Chris Jones, the pressure gets removed when they hit the magic number. This is what prompted him to go wild with Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs after sacking Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick.

Chris Jones got his 10th sack of the season at the expense of Easton Stick. The Chiefs big man will cash out on a $1.25 million incentive as he reaches the threshold of his contract requirement. He was the exception in Andy Reid’s resting protocol against the Chargers . Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce both did not play in preparation for the playoffs. Jones knew he needed the extra cash which may have prompted the Chiefs to allow the decision.

Everyone on the Chiefs bench went wild as their defensive tackle got his incentive. Along with this, Cam Jones has been leading the defensive squad as well. He, so far, has 11 tackles to lead the team. Charles Omenihu also joined in on the quarterback takedown party with a sack of his own.

The game is still tight but the Chiefs are ahead. They could use some more stops from the defense to pull away with the win. Will they be able to close the season out strong?
