The "DNVR Broncos Podcast" hosted former NFL quarterback and ProFootballTalk’s own Chris Simms on their show last week, and Simms had high praise for Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix in a variety of ways.
Simms opened up his appearance with comments about Broncos head coach Sean Payton’s process thus far in Denver, highlighting his trend of bringing in a monstrous offensive line to protect the future under center.
Simms also mentioned his affinity for Nix, the number three quarterback for Simms heading into last year’s draft.
Nix’s athleticism also stood out to Simms.
"We know Jayden Daniels is the best runner in the (2024) draft… But I thought Bo Nix and Caleb Williams were the best scramblers (out of the rookie quarterbacks) like, could make people miss in the pocket then to throw the football that way. They were incredible," Simms said.
This was almost one of the best plays of the week

When comparing Daniels and Nix passing outside the pocket, Daniels finished 11th in the NFL with a 100.1 passer rating outside the pocket, while Nix finished 18th league-wide with a 93.3 rating outside the pocket in 2024.
However, Nix certainly extended plays when it mattered and avoided sacks, only allowing an 8.1 sack percentage vs. pressure, while Daniels allowed a 20.2% sack percentage vs. pressure.
Nix’s experience in college playing multiple defenses seemed to play a factor in his success vs. the blitz.
While this quote will raise a few eyebrows, Simms may be onto something, and next season should help determine a better understanding of consistent success rate against pressure.
