Chuba Hubbard Fantasy Football Impact from Recent News

There might not be a bigger riser in fantasy football drafts this summer than Jonathon Brooks. As a result, that has caused Chuba Hubbard to be a huge afterthought at this point. 

Brooks is the younger and more exciting running back who was a very good prospect, being drafted 46th overall back in the 2024 NFL Draft. The problem is that Brooks suffered an ACL injury in both 2023 and 2024, totaling 9 carries in his NFL career.

That said, Brooks is only 23 years old, and Hubbard is coming off a season where he had just 3.8 YPC, 134 carries for 511 yards, and scored 8.4 PPG in 15 games. However, that would be leaving out the season where Hubbard had 16.1 PPG, 4.8 YPC, and 1,195 rushing yards on 250 carries back in 2024.

At 27 years old now, Hubbard is an intriguing player to draft given his past production, and a report about him came out on September 3rd from SleeperNFL on X:

“Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard has been named a team captain.”

Admittedly, this doesn’t mean everything, but it’s still noteworthy from the organization. If Hubbard was going to be completely phased out of this offense, there’s pretty much no way this would have happened.

That said, the vote of confidence to make Hubbard a captain is certainly a good piece of news to hear for his outlook. 

Should You Draft Chuba Hubbard in Fantasy Football?

Right now Hubbard has a FantasyPros ADP of 90.1, compared to Brooks at 86.4. Brooks has the slight edge, which makes sense, and while I’m not counting Hubbard out, the difference is small enough that I’d pay up for Brooks.

With that being said, based on the draft rooms that I’ve been in, I’ve seen Brooks selected much earlier than this, whereas the same can’t be said about Hubbard.
