The Cincinnati Bengals have an unbalanced offense currently predicated on the passing attack. The Bengals offense is easy to defend right now one dimensional. Whether it’s the interior of the offensive line or Bengals running back Chase Brown not seeing the hole, the offense’s running game is struggling. Schematically, part of the problem is what I’ll reiterate with the Bengals offense is sitting in Shotgun makes Joe Burrow a standing target and for the run game a defense only has to defend one play from Shotgun and that is the draw play. Instead of having Joe Burrow operating more from under center.
The Indianapolis Colts’ season is not going the way they want it to; at 2 and 4, their record dictates the Colts will be players at the trade deadline. Chase Brown has not eclipsed 100 yards on the ground this season. This is the time to get bigger and better at the running back position by trading for Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts.
The Bengals needed to fix their defense and uncharacteristically traded away their 1st-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to the New York Giants for Dexter (Sexy Dexy) Lawrence to fix the interior of the battered Bengals defense. The Bengals’ glaring issue on offense is running back, and this is the perfect time in the season for the Bengals front office to continue being aggressive and put the exclamation point on the offense by trading for Jonathan Taylor. With the Colts just firing their general manager, that could trigger a fire sale in Indy.
Bengals fans WANT this to happen… Should it? We breakdown the trade that fans have been asking for!

For the Bengals to balance their offense and to be able to win the physical, rugged AFC North Division, they must have balance and become a threat with the ground game. A potential trade package for Taylor could feature Chase Brown and a 2nd -round pick in exchange for Jonathan Taylor. Joe Burrow said that with the additions the Bengals front office made during the offseason, this team and roster feels like his 2019 LSU National Championship team. If that’s the case, the Bengals must maximize the opportunity and give the offense balance by trading for Taylor to make the Bengals offense lethal.
The Bengals worked on it during the offseason, but have to commit to running from under center, where the running game is most effective and unpredictable for opposing defensive coordinators to game plan for. Taylor last season exploded for 18 touchdowns and 1,585 yards last year. This is the kind of production that can prime the Bengals offense for the Playoffs and getting back to the Super Bowl and winning it at SoFi Stadium.
