Free Agency

Here is a look at the list of current unrestricted free agents sorted by the amount of snaps they have played so far this season:

The Draft

This chart shows the ages of the draft class at the time of the draft. Greens signifies the age of 66% of the prospects they have drafted in this range, yellow 33% and red is an age they have never taken in this range. So while it is unlikely they select a red player, it isn't impossible.

Conclusion

The two players that will headline the 2027 Cleveland Browns position room are KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. Hopefully this isn't a 2026 or 2027 status but one that lasts until 2033 and beyond. This is the difference compared to short term options they have gone after such as Landry, Beckham and Cooper, they were never going to give you eight plus years of stability in a position room like a high draft pick. Going from Coleman to Concepcion without a wide receiver selection in the first two rounds was unacceptable from multiple front offices. It is the position that does the most to elevate a quarterback, you can't ignore it.

The big question is what do you do with the third wide receiver spot in the position room. As of today the only option on the roster to fill this spot is Jerry Jeudy. He will cost $17m in 2027 which is likely to be in the 33 to 38 range for the highest paid wide receivers in the league next year.

Isaiah Bond is a player that could grow into the role and has shown flashes in the past but has been limited to 9% of snaps in 2026. With Tylan Wallace getting twice the amount, despite missing a game and Malachi Corley just behind him on 7%. It hardly paints a picture that the team think he is ready to step up and be a starter.

They could turn to free agency to replace Jeudy, the issue is, no great wide receiver is going to want to come to Cleveland with uncertainty at the quarterback position and to be wide receiver three as well as competing with Fannin for touches.

The draft is certainly an option but for week one impact, do you realistically want to use a round 1/2 pick on a player who will be coming off the field when you want to have a second tight end in on a play.

With all of that, it is why part of me would look to keep Jeudy for one more year despite all the trade noise. I am not sure the team does it but they should certainly be considering it. Even if they agree a deal with him that guarantees say $12m of the $17m and he has $5m of incentives to earn.

If they don't go for Jeudy, then I can see them signing a cheaper veteran in the market around the $5m mark. They can take their time with who they sign as Jeudy's deal doesn't guarantee until September, so it doesn't need to be an expensive day one or two of free agency signing.

As things stand I will list Bond being on the roster but he will need to start increasing his offensive snaps and get onto the field for specials teams. Having zero specials teams snaps this season is bad news for a player who isn't starting. While he has guarantees, it is money that will move to a new team once signed after he is cut, so it won't keep him on the roster. This is likely a roster spot that will be decided between Bond and Wallace, they will re-sign him and give themselves training camp to decide.

I expect them to draft a player, while it could happen in the third round, my guess would be a swing on day three.

If Corley keeps producing on special teams and in the return game it makes a lot of sense to retain him but at the same time they will allow multiple players including UDFAs to compete for this spot.

Final 53

KC Concepcion
Denzel Boston
Cheaper Veteran (or Jerry Jeudy)
Isaiah Bond (or Tylan Wallace)
Day Three Draft Pick
Malachi Corley (or UDFA)
