Monday saw several college football head coaches fired as teams prepare for their Week 13 games. Florida Atlantic fired head coach Tom Herman in his second season with the program. UMass fired head coach Don Brown in this third year of a second stint with the Minutemen.

Another head coach won't get to make it to year three with a program. The Charlotte 49ers hired Biff Poggi before the 2023 season. He enjoyed a couple of viral moments last season for his eccentric choice of casual gameday wear.

Per NBC Sports Nicole Auerbach, the 49ers are set to fire Biff Poggi and make associate head coach and tight ends coach Tim Brewser the interim coach.

"News: Charlotte has fired head coach Biff Poggi, source confirms to NBC Sports," Auerbach posted on X. "Poggi went 6-16 over two years. Tim Brewster will be the interim head coach, source says."

Poggi was an associate head coach at Michigan for Jim Harbaugh in 2021 and 2022 before accepting the 49ers head coaching job. The 64- year-old coach went 6-16 with Charlotte and 4-10 in AAC play.

Charlotte started out the season with a 3-3 record. Their last win came in a 55-24 blowout of East Carolina at Jerry Richardson Stadium on Oct. 5. Since, the 49ers have lost four games in a row, including a 59-24 defeat by the South Florida Bulls on Saturday.

Two of Charlotte's wins have come against programs who have fired their coaches this season--Rice and East Carolina.

The 49ers will finish their regular season traveling to play Florida Atlantic on Saturday before hosting UAB on Nov. 30.
