ESPN's "College GameDay" is losing a valuable member from its team before the start of the 2025 season.

It's already been announced that Lee Corso will retire in August after making one last appearance on "College GameDay." Well, it turns out he's not the only well-respected figure leaving the network.

After nearly three decades of service, Gene Wojciechowski has announced his departure from ESPN.

Wojciechowski joined ESPN in 1998 after working for the Chicago Tribune, The Dallas Morning News and the Los Angeles Times. The talented reporter announced in 2023 that he was being laid off by ESPN, but May 31, 2025 was his final day with the WorldWide Leader In Sports.

"After 27 1/2 yrs, my official last day on the ESPN books. Owe 1,000 thanks, but forever grateful to J Skipper, J Papanek, Steve Wulf, P Stiegman, Lee Fitting, Mike McQuade, D Kraft, Joe W, @KirkHerbstreit , @ReceDavis , Tom Rinaldi, @Jimmyggg44 , @cbfowler +every editor/prod/crew," Wojciechowski wrote on social media.

Shortly after Wojciechowski made this announcement, his peers responded with kind thoughts.

"Tremendous reporter. Brilliant writer and storyteller. Better man. Unsurpassed as a loyal friend. Legend in the business," ESPN's Rece Davis said.

NFL reporter Ed Werder replied, "You’ve always done phenomenal work wherever you’ve been. Congrats, Geno."

Wojciechowski became a beloved figure for his in-depth reports on "College GameDay." There aren't many people like him who can handle delicate topics with such love and care.

We wish Wojciechowski all the best as he enters the next chapter of his life.
