Colts HC Confirms Matt Ryan’s Role Moving Forward

If there’s one thing that will give a player confidence, it’s when their coach publicly praises them.

Jeff Saturday, while he has only coached three games for the Colts, remains confident in Ryan and his ability to be the Colts’ quarterback.

It’s a good thing too.

Before Saturday was named as the interim head coach, the Colts were coached by Frank Reich.

In an attempt to shake things up, Reich named second-year player Sam Ehlinger as their starting quarterback.

In Ehlinger’s two games as the Colts starter, he completed just 61% of his passes for 304 yards, but failed to throw a touchdown pass, and added in one interception.

It’s a wonder why Reich decided to go with Ehlinger over Ryan, especially considering that Ryan is having one of the best statistical seasons of his career.

His 68.8% completion percentage is three full points above his career average, which is a big reason that the Colts have remained competitive in many of their games.

The Colts couldn’t tank for the draft, considering that they don’t have a first-round pick in 2023.

The only logical thing for the Colts to do?

Win football games, and try to put themselves into playoff contention.

While it hasn’t necessarily equated to wins, they are a much better football team when Ryan is at the helm.
