Star running back Jonathan Taylor did not play in the Indianapolis Colts' Week 6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and indicated on Thursday it was him driving the decision to not play.
"You just know your body," Taylor said on Thursday, via Stephen Holder.
It's noteworthy because so many players put themselves in further danger by trying to tough it out and play through an injury, which could either make it worse, or limit their effectiveness because they are not close to 100 percent healthy.
Taylor is one of the NFL's best running backs and led the league in rushing with more than 1,800 yards a year ago. He has been inactive the past two weeks due to injury and was coming off back-to-back down games in the two weeks prior to that.
He is averaging just four yards per carry in the four games he has played.
As for his status this week against , Taylor said he is "feeling good."
The Colts, with a 3-2-1 record, have a massive first place showdown in the AFC South with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. With the way their offense has struggled at times this season, they could certainly use a healthy Taylor back in the lineup and playing at the level we saw from him in his first two years in the league.
