Colts safety Julian Blackmon tears Achilles, out for season

The Indianapolis Colts will be without one of their starting safeties for their Week 7  Sunday Night Football showdown against the San Francisco 49ers, and the rest of the season as well.

According to multiple reports, Colts second-year pro Julian Blackmon suffered a torn Achilles during practice on Wednesday.

Blackmon was selected by Indianapolis in the third round of the 2020 draft and recorded 42 tackles and a pair of interceptions as a rookie across 15 games, including 14 starts. The 23-year-old had started all six of the Colts games in 2021, already racking up 34 tackles and one forced fumble.

Blackmon had game-high 11 solo tackles in the team's Week 3 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
