The Indianapolis Colts 2024 season ended with a win in Week 18 over the Jacksonville Jaguars, which brought them to an uninspiring 8-9 record.
While their season didn't go as planned, they still saw multiple individuals finish with stellar seasons.
One of which is being recognized as the single best player at his position this year.

"Nelson returned to his dominant best in 2024, beating Joe Thuney of the Kansas City Chiefs to this spot. He allowed 20 total pressures in pass protection and earned a 79.7 pass-blocking grade. He also put up an 81.7 grade as a run-blocker."

This season, Nelson was credited with allowing three sacks, eight quarterback hits, and 20 pressures after starting all 17 games. To make it even more impressive is knowing that he had both players on both sides of him miss time this year and saw rookies catapulted into the starting lineup sporadically throughout the year.
Even with that Nelson was a rock for the Colts throughout the season. He held a shaky line together and honestly helped elevate the play of multiple young players at a time when they needed it most. There's a lot of questions surrounding the future of the Colts. So, we are at the point where no one should feel safe on their roster. But in my opinion, the player who should feel the safest is Nelson because you hardly see players of his caliber on the offensive line traded. So unless Nelson requests to be traded, he should remain a foundational piece of this team and their future plans.
