One of the biggest sports-related stories of the past month was former NFL QB Mark Sanchez getting stabbed in Indianapolis. But with Sanchez now recovered, one comedian decided to have some fun over the incident.

Taking to social media this week, comedian Benedict Polizzi decided to poke fun at the incident by dressing up in a Mark Sanchez Jets jersey and sprayed some fake blood on his torso. He went the extra mile by putting on some football pads and eye-black while holding a football for the camera. While Polizzi didn't exactly look like the spitting image of the former NFL QB, he got about as close as he could.

Polizzi made it very clear on his Instagram that he's trying to bait some of the meanest comments he possibly could out of his costume:

"it’s my bday meanest comment gets pinned," he wrote.

To his credit, it worked. There were plenty of mean comments for him to choose from, though most of them had less to do with him mocking Sanchez's near-fatal stabbing and more to do with how thin his thighs look:

"How did you only skip upper leg day?" one user asked.

"You're the reason your parents got divorced," another remarked.

"Ozempic knees."

"You look like a concussion."

The Sanchez Stabbing Incident

Sanchez was recently involved in a violent late-night altercation in downtown Indianapolis that left him hospitalized with stab wounds. The conflict reportedly began over a parking dispute with a 69-year-old driver near a hotel’s loading dock. According to police and prosecutor statements, Sanchez—who allegedly appeared intoxicated—accosted the driver, attempted to enter his vehicle, and pushed him; the driver responded first with pepper spray and then stabbed Sanchez in self-defense when Sanchez advanced again.

Incidentally, Polizzi also hails from Indianapolis.

Following the incident, Sanchez was initially charged with misdemeanors including battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. Those charges were later upgraded to a Level 5 felony battery charge, involving serious bodily injury, which could carry a sentence of 1 to 6 years in prison.
