The Washington Commanders have finally come to an agreement with second-round draft pick Trey Amos and have now locked in its full 2025 NFL draft class.
The entire league has been trying to figure out how to sign their second round picks after the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns gave their respective second round picks fully-guaranteed contracts for the first time in NFL history.
Washington has gotten itself out of that jam, and he's expected to report tomorrow July 18th, as rookies show up for training camp in Ashburn, Virginia.

The Commanders already have question marks around whether or not star WR Terry McLaurin will report for training camp on July 22 and they didn't need a rookie joining the club. Los Angeles Chargers rookie wideout Tre Harris was the first second-round pick to hold out, but that was resolved not long after Amos agreed to his deal.
Training camp is a vital time where the team really lays the groundwork for the season: learning schemes and building chemistry. A rookie who is expected to start at his position needs all the reps possible to learn his role, and build a connection with the team, and Amos will be present to now do so.
Amos participated and flashed in the earlier phases of the offseason with rookie/mandatory minicamp and OTAs, and now it's time to put the pads on and get back to work for training camp.
The Commanders did sign CB Jonathan Jones in free agency, and an absence from Amos could've allowed more opportunities for Jones to impress. Crisis adverted, and the expectations for Amos are extremely high.

Washington knows that they hit the lottery, and likely landed the steal of the draft by selecting Amos at 61st overall in the draft. What does that mean for the rest of the secondary when the entire team reports for training camp? It means that the Commanders secondary will be at full force as a unit.
Washington's secondary can be the strongest unit on defense if everything goes according to plan this season, and that's with alignment and health. Amos should be the starting outside corner if he keeps impressing this offseason, and Marshon Lattimore would be the starting corner on the opposite side of the field if he stays healthy.
Mike Sainristil shined as a rookie corner last season, who played majority of his snaps out of position as an outside corner. The rookie corner showed that he can be a starting outside corner in the league, and played himself into DROY discussions. Sainristil is likely going to move back into his natural position as a slot/nickel corner for his second season, which means he could be even better this season.
A healthy Lattimore, and two young fiesty corners in Amos and Sainristil would easily give the Commanders the best corner group they've had in a very long time.
