The Washington Commanders are gearing up for the second season of the Jayden Daniels era.
Unfortunately, what started out as a promising offseason could now be a bit of a nightmare, as star wide receiver Terry McLaurin recently requested a trade amid a contract stalemate.
Even so, his quarterback is still confident in his team's ability to get a deal done.
"I know one day 17 will be running out here -- and hopefully soon," Daniels told CBS Sports. "I can't control what he has going on with his business or the front office, stuff like that. I got to go out there and try to be the best version of myself each and every day. I just hope one day it all gets resolved and 17 is back out here catching passes."

Still, Daniels may have a little more control over this situation than he says or thinks.
McLaurin is his best weapon, and having him out there gives this team the best shot to build from last season's momentum and surprising trip to the NFC Championship game.
The Commanders have made big moves to make sure Daniels has the supporting cast he needs to thrive, and if he says the word, they might not hesitate to give McLaurin the type of deal he's looking for.
McLaurin reportedly wants to make around $30M a year, and given his production, that sounds fair.
Per Pro Football Reference, he's topped the 1,000-receiving yard plateau in all but his first year in the league, when he had 919, and that's despite having one of the worst and least consistent quarterback situations in the game.
