The Washington Commanders underwent somewhat of a cinderella run last season when they advanced all the way to the NFC Championship Game.
They would be blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles 55-23, but being led by a rookie quarterback in Jayden Daniels, they felt like their future was bright.
They got off to a sluggish start this year with a 1-1 record and the offense struggling to move the ball with the same efficiency as last season. To make matters worse, Daniels was injured in the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
He missed Washington’s game on Sunday, but luckily they came out victorious with backup quarterback Marcus Mariota under center.
The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year hasn’t been cleared for this week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, but he shared an update on how he’s feeling.
When Daniels was asked if he feels any discomfort in his injured knee, he told reporters, “No, I’m myself. I feel good so I don’t think it effects me.”

The Falcons dropped their last game to the lowly Carolina Panthers, losing 30-0, so Daniels’ return probably isn’t imperative.
But the Commanders came into the year with Super Bowl aspirations given their finish last year, so they know they need their star back to build continuity as they gear up for another potential playoff run.
Daniels has completed less than 60% of his passes this season with his patented deep ball seemingly vanishing into thin air. Another issue with the offense is that he’s not having as many explosive runs.
Washington has taken an obvious step back from last year, with many believing Daniels is experiencing the feared sophomore slump. He and the team hope that he can get back to last year’s form when he finally makes his return.
