If Washington Commanders fans weren't nervous about Terry McLaurin's contract saga, they might be now.
With McLaurin after a new contract and set to play on the final year of his current deal, Terry wants to be rewarded for his consistent production. But so far, things haven't been going smoothly...at all.
McLaurin has skipped OTAs and even mandatory minicamp as he searches for his new contract, but so far, we haven't heard from the man himself...until now.
“I've been pretty frustrated, I'm not going to lie,” McLaurin said via JP Finlay on the contract talks. “Everything that has transpired up until this point has just been disappointing and frustrating. I've wanted to continue my career here. I've created my life here. My wife and I have bought our first home here. So, this has been somewhere where I've always wanted to be, and just to see how things have played out has been disappointing.
"Obviously, I understand everything's a business but at the same time I want to put myself in a position where I'm valued and I feel appreciated and things like that. Unfortunately, that hasn't transpired the way I wanted to.”
That doesn't sound too promising, does it?
Granted, we think a deal will eventually get done because it makes zero sense not to, considering how the offseason has played out, and if the Commanders think they are Super Bowl contenders, then not having McLaurin means they won't be.
So yes, the deal will likely get done, but the Commanders aren't making it easy on a player who has given everything to the organization, even when it was in its dark times, he never fussed.
Now, when it comes time to get paid, the franchise is dragging its feet.
McLaurin is frustrated at the lack of movement on his new contract, and we bet a fair portion of Washington fans feel the same.
