The Washington Commanders will be starting a new quarterback in Week 3.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels is dealing with a knee injury that kept him out of practice for the entire week. After Daniels missed practice on Friday, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told the media that Marcus Mariota would start at quarterback for the team’s Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Mariota is in his second season with Washington. He did not make any starts last season, but he appeared in three games and passed for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Mariota was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 draft. He spent five seasons with the Tennessee Titans, two with the Raiders, and he bounced around with the Falcons, Eagles and now the Commanders. He’s gone 34-40 as a starter.

Washington is 1-1 this season with a win over the New York Giants and a loss against the Green Bay Packers. The Commanders were victorious in all three games in which Mariota appeared last season.
