It's no secret that the Washington Commanders are currently dealing with some significant injury issues. And head coach Dan Quinn has another major headache that has fans fearing the worst.

Not for the first time this season, it involves one of Washington's franchise cornerstones.

Terry McLaurin left Washington's win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3 with a quad injury. The Commanders were well ahead, so there was no need to get the wide receiver back into the firing line. Quinn didn't discuss the problem in front of the media, which left fans feeling a sense of calm regarding the Pro Bowler's status moving forward.

That's not the case anymore.

Terry McLaurin's status for Commanders' game in Week 4 is now precarious

According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, which was later disclosed by other NFL insiders, McLaurin's participation in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons is in doubt. The wideout is gathering more information about the complication, which the Commanders will closely monitor in the coming days before reaching a conclusion.

This is pretty standard practice. Accumulating all the necessary information before deciding on a course of action is a strategy employed by most teams in the league. Even so, it's not hard to see why this has caused panic among the fan base.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels missed the last game with a knee sprain. Noah Brown and John Bates didn't feature either. Veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones is on injured reserve. Austin Ekeler, Deatrich Wise Jr., and Will Harris are done for the entire campaign.

If this wasn't an injury crisis before, it is now.

McLaurin doesn't miss games. He's been an iron man in Washington almost from the moment he got drafted as a third-round pick out of Ohio State. The second-team All-Pro is an integral part of the team's plans. Sitting out all summer due to a contract holdout with the Commanders wasn't ideal, but the pass-catcher looked back to something like his old self versus Las Vegas.

Quinn said that he'll know more about the status of all his injured players on Wednesday when preparations for the Falcons gather pace. The Commanders' fan base will be hoping for good news because they can ill afford another influential figure sitting out during a tough stretch of fixtures in the coming weeks.

Gather for a collective prayer circle. There have been too many of those so far this season, and we're only three games in.
