Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3) are coming off a 28-23 shootout loss to Drake Maye and the New England Patriots (8-2).
Mayfield put up some impressive numbers in the loss as he completed 28 of 43 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately for the Bucs, the Patriots got a breakout performance from rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson, who rushed for a career-high 147 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Despite the loss, Tampa Bay is still sitting in first place in the NFC South as Mayfield looks to lead the team on a deep run.
While Mayfield is quite busy during the season as he and the Bucs thirst for a Super Bowl — and he duels with the likes of Maye, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes for NFL MVP — Mayfield has also been able to make an impact off the field.
He and his wife, Emily Mayfield, were recently named Family Philanthropist of the Year by Tampa Bay Business and Wealth magazine.
"Being named Family Philanthropist of the Year by @tbbwmag is especially meaningful because you are the reason we do what we do," read a statement from the Mayfields.
As expected, the two received plenty of congratulatory messages for their tremendous work in the community.
Mayfield and his wife launched the Baker and Emily Mayfield Foundation back in 2023, with their goal to "provide programs, scholarships and philanthropic opportunities to help others tackle life's challenges in order to BE the best version of themselves."
As for Mayfield's work on the field, he and the Bucs will be taking on Allen and the Bills on Sunday in a game that kicks at 1 p.m. ET and will air on CBS.
