Contrary to popular belief, the Colts' poor showing in Week 9 should motivate them to make a big move at the trade deadline

The Indianapolis Colts had their first true letdown performance of the year in Week 9, a 27-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team now sits at 7-2 on the year, and their four-game win streak comes to an end. A common response to this loss has been that it will make the team rethink making a move ahead of the trade deadline. I actually think it may do the opposite.

The Colts' loss in Week 9 to the Steelers should increase the chances of a move ahead of the NFL trade deadline

The Colts only had four turnovers entering Week 9’s matchup with the Steelers. They more than doubled that total in this game alone, and they ended the game with six total. It should shock no one that they ended up losing this one. Outside of their first offensive possession, it was pretty clear it wasn't the Colts’ day. It was the worst game of the year for QB Daniel Jones, and it was by far the worst game of the year for their offensive line. This loss showed that their offense isn't perfect and isn't going to be able always to put up 30 points to win a game.

So even more than I already believed, the Colts must operate as buyers ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. The defense is in no way the reason the Colts lost this game, but it's where the clear holes on the team's roster are. The team needs to either get Laiatu Latu a better running mate off the edge or a better option to start at CB for the rest of the season. That needs to be the way they react to this loss. If I were them, I'd swing big and aggressively push to land star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson from the Cincinnati Bengals
