Philadelphia Eagles star Cooper DeJean learned Thursday that he'll have a new secondary coach for the 2026 season.
The Dallas Cowboys are finalizing a deal to make Christian Parker their defensive coordinator. The 34-year-old has been the secondary coach and passing game coordinator for the Eagles since 2024. He's done a tremendous job developing the young cornerbacks on Philadelphia's roster.
During the 2024 season, Philadelphia's defense finished first in passing yards allowed while only giving up 22 touchdown passes. Although the Eagles ranked eighth in passing yards allowed this fall, they did rank first in passing touchdowns surrendered.
DeJean, who earned All-Pro honors this season, made it clear that he'll miss being coached by Parker.
"Mannnn," DeJean wrote on social media. "They got a great one wouldn’t be the player I am without CP."
The biggest weakness for the Cowboys this season was their secondary's inability to slow down opposing wide receivers. In fact, no team gave up more passing yards this past season.
Maybe, just maybe, Parker will help DaRo Bland, Caelen Carson, Shavon Revel Jr. and the rest of the secondary reach their full potential.
Of course, we also can't ignore the fact that Dallas will weaken Philadelphia's staff with this hire.
