Cooper Kupp is in danger of missing his first game for the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday when they face off against the Washington Commanders for a Week 9 matchup. The All-Pro wide receiver is currently dealing with multiple injuries, which has put his status for Sunday’s matchup in jeopardy.
Kupp popped up on Seattle’s injury report on Wednesday with a heel issue. On Thursday, a hamstring injury emerged, which ultimately forced him to sit out practice on Friday. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter provided an update on Kupp’s status on Saturday night, and it does not bode well for the Seahawks.
Kupp took his talents to Seattle in the offseason via free agency. He signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Seahawks, which is just his second team in the NFL after playing his entire eight-year career with the Los Angeles Rams.
In seven games played for his new team, Kupp has registered 24 catches for 293 yards and one touchdown.
On Saturday evening, Schefter took to social media to share a crucial update on Kupp and his status for the Commanders game. As it turns out, it does not look like the former Super Bowl MVP will take the field on Sunday night.
“Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp, listed as questionable for Sunday night due to a heel and hamstring injury, is unlikely to play vs. the Commanders, per source,” Schefter posted on X.

If Kupp is unable to play, then the Seahawks will likely promote Tory Horton to the No. 2 wide receiver role behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is having a career year in 2025. It is also worth noting that Seattle already elevated Cody White and Ricky White from its practice squad on Saturday amid injuries to WRs Jake Bobo and Dareke Young.
The 3-5 Commanders will host Sunday’s matchup at Northwest Stadium in Summerfield, Maryland. Kickoff is scheduled at 8:20 p.m. ET.
