The National Football League is a violent sport, and sometimes players suffer extremely brutal injuries. These injuries are tough not only for the player but also for the fans who watch either in person or on TV. Well, in the Week 2 preseason game where the San Francisco 49ers took on the Las Vegas Raiders, one of those injuries occurred with Corey Kiner.
Kiner is a 23-year-old NFL player who is currently under contract with the San Francisco 49ers. Kiner is starting his rookie season with the 49ers, who signed him as an undrafted free agent. Kiner is known for his time on the University of Cincinnati’s football team. He showed his potential last week against the Denver Broncos. He had 10 carries and rushed for 45 yards in that game and was one of the lone bright spots on that 49ers offense.
Hwas yet again impressive as he already had 2 carries for 23 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders. He even managed to record a reception as well for 4 yards. It was looking like he belonged on the 49ers roster, but then the brutal injury occurred.
Kiner was starting to play at the beginning of the second quarter and was already impressing. During that drive, he ran for a 19-yard gain, but then he got tackled and landed awkwardly. It looked like he was alright until he stood up on one leg and fell, grabbing his ankle. It truly was a brutal injury, and the broadcast had to take a timeout. When commercials were over, Kiner was seen being carted off the field, and the injury is a bad one, because he was ruled out immediately.
That injury was just terrifying to watch live, and it was scary seeing him get carted off with an injury. The 49ers just can’t catch a break as they have been dealing with a ton of injuries lately. 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan will have an update in the post-game interview with the press, but the rookie being ruled out immediately was tough. He was the best-performing running back on the roster, and there was a real chance he would have made the roster. Thoughts and prayers go out to Kiner, and hopefully, he heals quickly from his injuries.
