Last week , NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Derrick Gunn reported that 38-year-old offensive tackle Jason Peters had rejected offers from other teams to potentially make a return to the Philadelphia Eagles, a transaction that could lead to the Eagles moving on from 2019 first-round pick Andre Dillard.
As NFL Network's James Palmer (h/t Mike Garafolo) hinted, patience may not be a virtue for the Eagles, especially if the Cleveland Browns have something to say on the matter:
From NFL Now on @nflnetwork: 38-year-old Jason Peters has recently told friends if Tom Brady can play into his 40s, so can he. The #Eagles have remained in contact with him as other teams (@JamesPalmerTV mentioned the #Browns, #Jets and #Broncos) lurk. pic.twitter.com/cxWq9qGmwI

On Tuesday afternoon, Jared Mueller of 247Sports pointed out the Browns selecting Alabama tackle Jedrick Wills tenth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft wouldn't necessarily prevent Cleveland from making an offer to Peters, a two-time First-Team All-Pro with nine Pro Bowl appearances on an impressive resume.
The Browns are ready to win now, with quarterback Baker Mayfield, running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, and tight ends Austin Hooper and David Njoku all on the roster as of May 12. Starting Peters ahead of any first-year project at left tackle could understandably appeal to new head coach Kevin Stefanski, who will be tasked with guiding the Browns to the playoffs his first year on the job.
