In March, reports surfaced that two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback and accomplished amateur golfer Peyton Manning turned ESPN down regarding an opportunity to join the network's "Monday Night Football" commentary booth.
It appears "no" didn't necessarily mean "never" in that instance.
The all-time great who won titles with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos previewed his immediate future during an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show" on Tuesday:

"I haven't said 'no' forever," Manning explained regarding his decision to remain a football spectator in 2020. "I said 'no' to this year."
He also compared himself to younger brother and fellow two-time champion QB Eli Manning, who retired after 16 seasons with the New York Giants, in saying that both men are taking current periods of their lives one year at a time:
"That's what I've tried to do. I don't really have a five-year plan or a 10-year plan. I hear people say that. I loved playing football, I loved everything about it. I've just tried to ease into this second chapter by keeping myself busy, keeping myself stimulated, creating a lot of time for my family and to do some things I haven't had the chance to do.
"I love watching the games, Rich. I love going to games. I still go to all of the Broncos games. I get to Colts games. I kind of catch myself sort of analyzing a game in my head when I'm watching it. I kind of always did that."
Manning added that, while he enjoys hearing national commentators and analysts on football Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays, accepting such a job "is not in the cards for me right now, but I can't really say it's 'never' forever."
On Sunday, the golf foursome of Manning, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, and pros Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson helped raise $20 million to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic via their "The Match: Champions for Charity" outing at Medalist Golf Club in Florida.
