Cowboys Announce Good News on Thursday

Brian Schottenheimer and the Dallas Cowboys earned their third win of the 2025 NFL season in Week 7, improving to 3-3-1 with a 44-22 victory over their former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, and the Washington Commanders. Now, the Cowboys will look to make it two in a row in Week 8 as they hit the road to face Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos.

While the Cowboys’ offense continued to get healthy, welcoming back All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and several starting offensive linemen, their defense took a hit when cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a concussion at home. The injury sidelined him for Week 7 and left his status for Week 8 uncertain. But Dallas has some defensive reinforcements on the way.

DeMarvion Overshown was in the midst of a breakout 2024 campaign before suffering torn ACL, MCL, and PCL ligaments, ending his season and sidelining him for the first seven games of 2025. Rookie cornerback Shavon Revel is dealing with a similar setback, having torn his ACL during his final season at East Carolina and still awaiting his NFL debut.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys got some good news regarding two of their defenders, announcing that they had opened the 21-day practice window for Overshown and Revel, as well as for starting center Cooper Beebe. In their first session, Overshown and Revel participated in individual drills, and on Thursday, defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus said both would take on a larger role in practice, including some team drills.

The Cowboys will hit the road to face the Broncos on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. And at the time of this article, it seems unlikely either Overshown or Revel will make their season debuts.
