The Dallas Cowboys had a night to forget on Thursday, dropping a home game in prime time to the Jalon Daniels-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Cowboys offense looked inept for much of the game, and the defense allowed 165 rushing yards to Bucky Irving. The undrafted Daniels also managed 189 passing yards and a touchdown.
To make matters worse, several injury concerns showed up both before and during the game. The most notable was the in-game quad injury suffered by CeeDee Lamb. Joey Porter Jr. was ruled out before the game with an illness, and left tackle Tyler Guyton left the game with a back injury.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer spoke with the media Friday and shared some positive injury updates following the shocking loss.
Cowboys team reporter Tommy Yarrish relayed the positive updates.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer with some injury updates: - LT Tyler Guyton’s x-rays (back) were negative - WR CeeDee Lamb has a quad bruise but is okay - CB Joey Porter Jr. is “feeling better” after being ruled out with an illness last night - S Alijah Clark (hamstring) will be day-by-day

Lamb has a bruised quad but isn't expected to miss time; Guyton's X-rays came back negative, and Porter is "feeling better" after being visibly ill when he showed up Thursday night. All of them will get extended rest before the team's next game on Oct. 18 against the Green Bay Packers.
The rest will also allow the entire team to take a breather and recover after a major upset loss Thursday night. The Buccaneers entered with a 0-4 record and an undrafted rookie under center. That ended up not being a problem whatsoever.
Dak Prescott looked like the more inexperienced quarterback for much of the game, tossing two interceptions and failing to generate much offense following an opening-drive touchdown.
The Cowboys are 2-3 in an NFC East division filled with injuries. The 3-1 New York Giants are currently in first place, meaning the Cowboys are well within reach this early in the season.
Getting a few key players back healthy should mean the team bounces back in a big way next week against a struggling Packers squad.
