The 2-3-1 Dallas Cowboys face the 3-3 Washington Commanders in Week 7 in an NFC East showdown. The Cowboys are looking to bounce back after a 30-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
The Dallas defense will be without sixth-year cornerback Trevon Diggs. On Friday, The Athletic's Jon Machota reported that head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed Diggs suffered a concussion at home and has been ruled out.
Diggs has appeared in all six games this year with four starts. The two-time Pro Bowler has been targeted 16 times, allowing 11 receptions, 191 yards, three touchdowns and a 148.7 passer rating. He's also racked up 18 tackles and one tackle for loss.
With Diggs ruled out against the Commanders, it leaves a hole at cornerback. On Saturday, the Cowboys made a roster move to address this, activating Caelen Carson for return from injured reserve to the 53-man roster.
"The @dallascowboys activated CB Caelen Carson from Reserve/Injured-Designated for Return on Saturday. Carson, who was listed as questionable, is now removed from the game status report," wrote the Cowboys' public relations X account.

This is Carson's second year with the Cowboys after being a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He'll be making his season debut against the Commanders after a hyperextended knee during training camp landed him on injured reserve.
Last year, he appeared in six games with five starts, being targeted 33 times, allowing 25 completions, 360 yards, one touchdown and a 120.8 passer rating. Carson also had 27 tackles and four pass deflections.
With Diggs out, Carson will be relied on to help stop Washington's explosive offense. Led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders rank 13th in total yards per game (345.7) and seventh in points per game (26.3).
Kickoff is Sunday at AT&T Stadium at 4:25 p.m. ET, airing on Fox.
