Cowboys' Brian Schottenheimer Doesn't Hold Back on Dallas' Biggest Problem

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer singled out his team’s biggest problem following a surprising loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.

Schottenheimer is in his first season with the Cowboys, having replaced Mike McCarthy in the offseason. While he has given fans reason for optimism, wins on the board are what count, and America’s Team hasn’t been getting many of those in 2025.

Dallas suffered their fifth loss of the season as their offense went cold in a “Monday Night Football” fixture against Arizona.

The performance was so bad, Stephen A. Smith bailed after joining owner Jerry Jones in his suite.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Schottenheimer cited inconsistency as the team's main struggle.

“I’m disappointed. It’s the inconsistency that keeps getting us,” he said, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “In terms of this team’s fight and work ethic, I never questioned that.”

Kyler Murray did not feature for the Cardinals on the night and, with the starting quarterback sidelined, Jacoby Brissett gave a decent account of himself, going 21-of-31 for 261 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Dak Prescott threw for 250 yards, one TD and an interception on 24-of-39 passing. But the Cowboys offense didn’t get into the end zone until the fourth quarter.

The 27-17 loss leaves the Cowboys with a 3-5-1 record heading into their bye week.

A tough stretch now looms for Schottenheimer and his team. After they play the Las Vegas Raiders on November 17, the Cowboys will face the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Chargers before expectedly manageable outings against the Washington Commanders and New York Giants.
