Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb deserves more targets after stellar showing vs. Chargers

After Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb recently vented about his lack of involvement in the offense, he shined in a 20-17 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers with seven receptions for 117 yards.

"As a receiver, we always open," Lamb told ESPN's Scott Van Pelt following the victory. "Me and Ja'Marr [Chase] feel the same way. I'm right with him on that. But for me to come out and have this 100-yard game and have a win is very meaningful."

Chase said he's always "open" after the Cincinnati Bengals lost in Week 4 to the Tennessee Titans. He backed up the claim in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals with 15 receptions for 192 yards and three TDs.

Lamb, like Chase, proved he's still a bona fide No. 1 WR against Los Angeles, and that the Cowboys should prioritize getting him the ball more.

"The Cowboys have targeted CeeDee Lamb 42 times this season. He has 34 receptions. That is insane," wrote Pro Football Focus and the 33rd Team contributor Marcus Mosher on X, formerly known as Twitter. "He needs 10 or more targets every game."

Targeting Lamb more also benefits Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Per ESPN Stats and Information, Prescott-to-Lamb is seeing an 81 percent completion rate this season, second among QB-WR duos with 40 attempts or more.

"Me and that guy have put a lot of work into this thing," Prescott said of his chemistry with Lamb in a postgame news conference. "When they give him opportunities like they did tonight, he's going to take advantage of them. I'm going to take advantage of them."

Clearly, the Cowboys (4-2) should make the two-time Pro Bowler the focal point of their passing game. It will bolster a unit that is 19th in the NFL in passing yards (210.2).
