Brian Schottenheimer and the Dallas Cowboys got back on track in Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season after defeating Dan Quinn and NFC East rival Washington Commanders 44-22, jumping to 3-3-1 on the year. Dak Prescott had one of his better games of 2025, completing 21-of-30 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns.
Prescott has kept the Cowboys afloat over the past month despite being without his top wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, for the previous three games due to an ankle sprain. While George Pickens impressed during his stint as Prescott’s primary target, Lamb proved his value in his return against Washington, hauling in five catches for 110 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown. But there has been another wideout Prescott has been missing all year.
In 2024, the Cowboys acquried wide receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a couple of draft picks. After 24 total appearances in two seasons with the Panthers, Mingo didn't have much of an impact in his first year in Dallas, tallying just five catches for 46 yards. The former Ole Miss star didn't play a single snap with Prescott, who was recovering from a hamstring injury.
However, during the preseason, Mingo suffered a PCL sprain and missed the first seven games after the Cowboys placed him on injured reserve. Dallas opened his 21-day practice window at the start of October, giving the team until Wednesday to activate the wideout.
And sure enough, on Monday, the Cowboys did just that, while also opening the 21-day practice window for starting center Cooper Beebe, who has missed most of the season with a high ankle sprain.
"Brian Schottenheimer said receiver Jonathan Mingo will be added to the 53-man roster this week," ESPN's Todd Archer wrote on X. "He would be the sixth WR on the roster."

Following his activation, Mingo expressed his excitement for returning, hoping to get to play with Prescott for the first time as well.
“I feel great," Mingo said. "I’m excited. Been waiting. First time I get a chance to play with Dak. I got traded last year, he was hurt. (Then) I missed 7 games this year, so I’m finally happy to go out there and play with him. We had a good connection in camp.”
Up next for the Cowboys, a Week 8 matchup with Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
