Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens has said and done all the right things since being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Thought to come with a few red flags, so far, through OTAs and now minicamp, it's been all green for George at The Star.

Having been praised for how he has attacked learning Brian Schottenheimer's system, to his relationship and chemistry with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, Pickens has had about as good a start to an offseason as one could have hoped for.

Our insider Mike Fisher, watching workouts this week, said Pickens has been "dominant.''

Yes, training camp is six weeks away, so we will get a better idea of how George is traveling, but through OTAs and minicamp, he's been impressive.

“He comes to work every day with a smile on his face,” Schottenheimer said. “He's very personable when you get to know him, I love being around him, I love talking to him about life, shooting baskets against him. I talk to him a lot about ball and his experiences at Pittsburgh and what he likes, what he doesn't like. He's been amazing, he was the last guy to leave the practice field, I think that speaks volumes of the fact that he's excited about what we're building.

"I'm a big GP fan.”

It was seen as a defining offseason for Pickens to lay the foundation for what he hopes will be a good season, given that he is playing for a new contract, either with Dallas or someone else next offseason.

And he's hit the ground running.

His connection with Dak has already been on display, while his route running has, by all accounts, been far better than previously thought.

Yes, it's a small sample size, but that's all we have to go by, and Pickens feels ready to make the most of his opportunity in Dallas.

Training camp can't come quick enough.
