The NFL Draft is less than a week away, and for the Dallas Cowboys, that means the coaching department and staff are reviewing every possible detail to get their board set up just right.
Exactly who sits at the top of Dallas' draft board is unknown, but for most, it has a clear position attached to it - receiver.
With the dire need to help CeeDee Lamb, getting a quality No. 2 receiver, not just a "guy," is crucial to the offense's success in 2025.
But who? Tetairoa McMillan was seen as the clear choice a couple of weeks ago, but now? Oh, my friends, it has changed, and Texas native Matthew Golden is firming as most people's picks.
In fact, for ESPN pair Matt Miller and Jordan Reid, when assessing the team's potential selection that could fill a need and offering best value, both landed on Golden at No. 12.
Running a 4.29 at the scouting combine, Golden told Kay Adams he did that with a sore ankle and could have possibly run a 4.1, which is an incredible notable number.
But Golden's speed allows him to be productive across all three levels on the field (short, intermediate, and deep), and his ability to haul in contested catches is a feature.
Reid called him a "fit" for Brian Schottenheimer's offense, and pairing him with Lamb will give Dak Prescott a nice one-two combination to work with - it won't be CeeDee or bust.
The Cowboys do have other needs, but receiver in the first round is the most obvious pick, and now, so too is the player the franchise should select.
