You can never have enough pass rushers.
For the Dallas Cowboys, they have one of the NFL's best in Micah Parsons. This offseason, though, they built around him with multiple veteran additions in free agency and some pieces in the NFL Draft to fill out the defensive box.
Dallas' second-round pick, Donovan Ezeiruaku, has the all the potential to be the Robin to Parsons' Batman for years to come.
NFL.com projected the defensive end to be an instant-impact player on their All-Rookie Team prediction.
"Ezeiruaku walks into an advantageous environment," Gennarco Filice writes. "Sharing the field with perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate Micah Parsons, the rookie is set to receive favorable matchups -- and he has the pass-rushing arsenal to take advantage of them."
Last year at Boston College, Ezeiruaku walked away with ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors after a dominant 16.5 sack total with 21 additional tackles for loss - each of those marks were in the top three of FBS national ranks.
"With pterodactyl length and hair-on-fire spirit, Ezeiruaku explodes off the snap with a quick first step, often allowing him to get the edge and bend to the quarterback," the article continues. "If the pure speed rush doesn’t work, no worries: The dude knows how to use his hands, and he has a full bag of tricks that range from a spin to a Euro step to a pretty wicked ghost move."
"Easy" will have to earn his way up the depth chart during the offseason, but when he does, he'll have multiple veterans to learn from and model his game after. Along with Parsons, Dallas brought back double-digit sack man Dante Fowler Jr. on the edge.
If things get too crowded on the D-line, Ezeiruaku also profiles as an off-ball linebacker mold, similar to what Parsons was coming out of college. The Cowboys are much more shallow at linebacker due to injuries, so with Ezeiruaku's slim and athletic build, he could fit in nicely in the middle and pounce on outside runs or slant routes.
Ezeiruaku remains the one rookie left unsigned from the Cowboys draft class, but once he officially joins the team, there is no doubt that he can bring an explosive flavor to this new-look pass rush under defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.
